Distance Lower Bounding
نویسندگان
چکیده
Distance (upper)-bounding (DUB) allows a verifier to know whether a proving party is located within a certain distance bound. DUB protocols have many applications in secure authentication and location based services. We consider the dual problem of distance lower bounding (DLB), where the prover proves it is outside a distance bound to the verifier. We motivate this problem through a number of application scenarios, and model security against distance fraud (DF), Man-in-theMiddle (MiM), and collusion fraud (CF) attacks. We prove impossibility of security against these attacks without making physical assumptions. We propose approaches to the construction of secure protocols under reasonable assumptions, and give detailed design of our DLB protocol and prove its security using the above model. This is the first treatment of the DLB problem in the untrusted prover setting, with a number of applications and raising new research questions. We discuss our results and propose directions for future research.

Security Analysis of the Distance Bounding Protocol Proposed by Jannati and Falahati
In this paper, the security of a distance bounding protocol is analyzed which has been recently proposed by Jannati and Falahati (so-called JF). We prove that an adversary can recover key bits of JF protocol with probability of “1” while the complexity of attack is “2n” runs of protocol. In addition, we propose an improved protocol and prove that the improved protocol is resistant to mafia frau...
متن کاملLower-Bounding of Dynamic Time Warping Distances for Multivariate Time Series
A tight lower-bounding measure for dynamic time warping (DTW) distances for univariate time series was introduced in [Keogh 2002] and a proof for its lower-bounding property was presented. Here we extend these findings to allow lower-bounding of DTW distances for multivariate time series.
متن کاملEvaluation of Lower Bounding Methods of Dynamic Time Warping (DTW)
This paper presents a brief review on the lower bounding(LB) methods applied on Dynamic Time Warping(DTW) till now. Apart from providing a survey on the methods, an attempt has been made to compare these methods in terms of constraints involved with these methods. Some Lower Bounding (LB) methods have better pruning power than others, some are better in terms of running time and also there are ...
متن کاملOptimal Proximity Proofs Revisited
Distance bounding protocols become important since wireless technologies become more and more common. Therefore, the security of the distance bounding protocol should be carefully analyzed. However, most of the protocols are not secure or their security is proven informally. Recently, Boureanu and Vaudenay defined the common structure which is commonly followed by most of the distance bounding ...
متن کاملIndexing Spatio-Temporal Trajectories with Orthogonal Polynomials
In this paper we consider d-dimensional spatiotemporal data (d 1) and ways to approximate and index it. We focus on indexing such data for similarity matching using orthogonal polynomial approximations. There are many ways to choose an approximation scheme for d-dimensional spatiotemporal trajectories. Some of them have been studied before. In this paper we extend the approach proposed in [6] ...
